RCAH's 10th Anniversary

The MSU Residential College in the Arts and Humanities (RCAH) opened its doors to students for the first time in 2007. This year, please join us in commemorating our first decade with a variety of events!

We kicked off the celebratory year on October 20, 2017 when more than 300 people came together in the Snyder-Phillips courtyard to celebrate 10 years.

Donate to the alumni scholarship: 

Gifts made to this fund enhance the RCAH’s ability to recruit incoming students and ease the financial burden for those with demonstrated financial need. The alumni and friends of the RCAH created this scholarship in honor of the 10th anniversary of the college in demonstration of their appreciation and belief in the unique residential liberal arts academic experience it provides. The goal of the scholarship is to make the educational experience that the RCAH alumni valued and benefited from accessible to incoming students with financial need and to make it possible for those incoming students to afford to choose the RCAH.

On Friday, February 9 at 3 p.m., we will hold our first Alumni Career Exposure event on the second floor of Snyder-Phillips Hall. This event aims to bring together alumni and current students around arts and humanities career opportunities. Opportunities in Costa Rica for Alumni

Community Resilience and the Arts and Humanities in Costa Rica

RCAH will host a select advance team of alumni and stakeholders in Costa Rica May 13, 2018 through May 18, 2018. These three adventurous souls will join Vincent Delgado and an RCAH intern to travel the country and visit with RCAH’s partners in Costa Rica. Their job:

1) Plan for and inform an upcoming November alumni and stakeholder program.
2) Compare notes on community resilience in Costa Rica and in the U.S.
3) Identify a globally-connected informant working in community resilience and the arts and humanities to join and engage in the November trip
4) Plan future trips involving RCAH and Alternative Spartan Break (ASB) stakeholders and alumni.
5) Have an incredible time.

This trip, offered at a reduced rate, is expected to cost less than $1,000 depending on airfare. Those on this trip would be asked to commit to participating in and assisting in informing and inspiring the November trip.

In November, a larger team of alumni and stakeholders from RCAH and ASB will travel to Costa Rica and focus their talents on the arts, humanities and their critical value in helping communities build resilience to climate change. The program will operate November 4, 2018, to November 10, 2018, with the 4th and 10th serving as travel days between the U.S. and Costa Rica. This program will cost between $1,300 and $1,700 plus airfare — depending on the level of accommodations participants select. The program will include a special guest — to be announced — known around the world for his or her work on climate change and community using the arts and humanities — as well as RCAH interns who have deep experience using the arts and humanities to engage in communities. For each person that joins the trip, the program will raise $200 for a special fund supporting students' efforts on community climate resilience around the world. This program is open to ASB and RCAH alumni, community partners and stakeholders.
